Happy Birthday: Elaine is Eating has been around for a year!

Oh wow, how fast time flies! I originally started this blog because… well, I love food. I take so many pictures and go to so many restaurants and have so many opinions, but posting them on my Tumblr amidst everything else that goes on there just didn’t seem right. So I figured I might as well place them all on a separate site, and get familiar with WordPress while I’m at it.

One year on, I haven’t quite posted as much as I wanted to, partly because halfway through this last year I suddenly moved continents and began an intensive one-year graduate course. In fact, I think this is post 66, which means I got in roughly 5~6 posts per month. Considering I used to do about that much (or more!) per day as a professional blogger, those are thoroughly disappointing statistics. But I’m going to rectify that! Honest! As soon as I have time!

Haha, no really. Luckily for me, March happens to fall right around a time where I do happen to be mostly free, so I’m setting a blogging birthday goal for myself:

This month, I will put up at least one post per day!

If I manage to succeed, that would mean that I’ve upped the post count for the total of this blog by almost 50%! Not all of them are going to be restaurant reviews (obviously, I have neither the stomach or budget for that), but hopefully they’ll still be interesting to you handful of readers who read me. So yeah – get ready for some March Madness! Starting with this post today.

And as a birthday gift to this blog, I’m shelling out the $17 a year to make this officially elaineiseating.com. $17 US is like pocket change now thanks to the rise of the RMB. That’s terrible for my U.S. bank account, but not too bad for my Chinese one. Now to figure out how to get my money out of that country…

P.S. Technically, my blog started on March 7, but it’s much more heuristic to begin things at the beginning of the month isn’t it?

P.P.S. Just so this post does have something about food, I’m linking to Cakewrecks. That’s where that crazy bday cake picture is from. Incidentally, it’s great to learn that my favorite site of a couple years ago got an amazing looking revamp and is now looks like a professional hilarity aggregater.
